Empowering Global Youth with Disabilities: The GNYPD Story
Global Network of Young Persons With Disabilities (GNYPWD) is a youth-led group of the United Nations, comprising UN ambassadors with disabilities, working on different areas like inclusive education, sexual health, healthcare, and more. GNYPWD aimed to create a digital platform for discussion and collaboration on various projects. The members used to connect with each other on social media, but they wanted a more personalized and customized experience. The idea was to pilot test a web-based digital platform with minimal features and then scale it up as per requirements.
Outgrowing Social Media: Why GNYPWD Needed a Custom Web App
GNYPWD faced challenges in connecting with each other due to the limitations of existing social media
platforms. These limitations included a lack of control over personal data and a limited ability to customize the experience. As a solution, GNYPD wanted to create a digital platform that would offer a social media-like experience while maintaining complete control over personal data.
Powerful Collaboration: Creating a Custom Web App for GNYPD
GNYPD collaborated with a team of developers to create a custom web app that would fulfill their requirements. The platform was designed to offer a personalized and customized experience while maintaining complete control over personal data. The sensitive data was stored on the cloud using our cloud partner, Amazon Web Services (AWS).
Connecting a Global Community: Inside the GNYPD Web App's Robust Features

Accessibility for All: Making the GNYPD Web App Inclusive and User-Friendly
The web app was developed in accordance with WCAG 2.1 guidelines, making it accessible to users who use assistive technologies like screen readers and magnifiers. This ensured that the platform was inclusive and accessible to all users.
Global Success: How the GNYPD Web App Connects Youth with Disabilities Worldwide
The platform was piloted and tested by ambassadors from 50+ countries, with over 500 active users and 1000+ groups created. The custom web app offered a personalized and customized experience while maintaining complete control over personal data. The platform's success was attributed to its accessibility, inclusivity, and user-friendly design. The platform allowed users to collaborate and connect with each other in a safe and secure environment.
